About the President


Dr. Eba Hathout is the Founding President of The Hassan Hathout Foundation, an educational nonprofit organization whose mission is to spread the message of ‘Love in God’ through the works and philosophy of her late father, Dr. Hassan Hathout. Eba was born in Cairo, received her schooling in Kuwait, Britain and Switzerland, and did her medical school training at the Universities of Kuwait, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Cambridge before coming to the US. Her postgraduate medical training institutions included the University of Southern California and the University of California at Irvine and at Los Angeles (UCLA). She obtained board certifications in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology and received a national research service award, and an original research grant (R01) from the National Institutes of Health. She was the principal investigator in a multitude of national and international projects and is author of many peer-reviewed manuscripts. She is an invited fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, an elected member of the Society of Pediatric Research, and a professional member of numerous medical associations.

Eba is mother to Sarrah and Hassaan Shahawy. She is currently Professor and Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Loma Linda University. Her main interests are spirituality, interfaith work, and medical ethics. She enjoys poetry and piano.
